• This is an AI enhanced map created in Natural Scene Designer Pro 10 from geospatial data—a 1-meter DEM draped with 60-centimeter NAIP imagery. After setting up and rendering the initial 3D scene, I entered the Google Gemini text prompt below that magically transformed it into a photorealistic image. "Preserve terrain shape and horizon. A 3D oblique view of Yosemite Valley looking east on a nice summer day. Put a dusting of snow on distant peaks. Show wispy clouds in the sky. But is the image accurate? Pretty much, bearing in mind that we have no idea where Google Gemini gets information from. The AI-enhanced terrain features closely match what actually exists. And the distinctive rock textures on cliff faces, such as El Capitan and Royal Arches, look about right. Vegetation is more suspect, however. Although forest and meadow locations are generally correct, liberties were taken with the placement of individual trees. They are a loose interpretation of what actually exists. With Photoshop's brush tool, I added Ribbon Fall and Sentinel Falls that were absent from the AI rendering. I then used Photoshop's oil paint filter to give the scene a slight painterly effect.
