Georgia Archival Print

Geological Appalachia is signaled in Northern Georgia by the  diagonal NE-SW line followed by the Chattahoochee River (on the South Carolina border, by the the Chattooga). The Piedmont-Coastal Plain distinction is muted in Georgia, but the Tidewater region here is strikingly marked by the unbroken belt of the Sea Islands, with their attendant coastal wetlands and estuaries.
