• The Conegliano Valdobbiadene area extends over a hilly territory located 50 km from Venice and about 100 from the Dolomites. Viticulture here has very ancient origins but the first written mention linking Prosecco to this territory dates back to 1772.

  
  Since the introduction of the DOC, in 1969, the historical production area has remained limited to 15 municipalities. Two of these give it its name: Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, one the cultural capital and the other the productive heart.

  In 2003, the territory of Conegliano Valdobbiadene was recognized as the First Sparkling Wine District of Italy, and this map of the region will allow you to fully appreciate its beauty.

  
  This unique territory, whose position between the sea and the Prealps ensures a temperate climate with an annual average of 12.3° C and constant winds, allows the grapes to dry quickly after the rains. The hills extend gently from east to west, enjoying a south-facing slope, where the vineyards have better exposure to the sun, and a north-facing slope, usually occupied by woods.

  
  Thanks to the contour lines, the raised relief maps shows how the altitude varies from 100 to 500 m, guaranteeing a temperature range that allows the birth of particular aromas. Furthermore, it is possible to understand how the Glera vine has found its ideal environment on these hills for more than three centuries, as it loves water but fears stagnation, and the slope of the hills ensures that the rain is always drained.
