The highest peak in the Americas is also the highest in the Southern Hemisphere, tucked just inside Argentina's western boundary with Chile. Lying east of the main crest of the Andes, Aconcagua's dry slopes are largely free of snow and ice, making this an attractive summit for peakbaggers seeking a non-technical objective.
