Turkana County is the largest and also the north-western most county in Kenya.
It is bordered by the countries of Uganda to the west, South Sudan and Ethiopia to the north and north east, and Lake Turkana to the east. To the south and east, neighbouring counties in Kenya are West Pokot, Baringo and Samburu counties, while Marsabit county is located on the opposite(ie eastern) shore of Lake Turkana.
Its capital and largest town is Lodwar. Fishing is practised in the waters of Lake Turkana with tilapia and nile perch being among some of the fish species caught in the Lake. Goats, camels, donkeys and zebu cattle are the most common livestock kept by the communities in the region.
