Cartographers Mary and Grant Morrison started Latitude 40° Maps in 1989 in the small mountain town of Nederland, Colorado. Latitude 40° makes excellent folded trail maps covering popular recreation areas in Colorado and Utah that everyone from hikers and bikers to ATVers, climbers, and backpackers have relied on for over 35 years. Latitude 40° is a hands-on company. Not only do Mary and Grant do the extensive research needed for each map, but they also personally design and build the maps and oversee the printing process. Hundreds of hours of research go into the production of each map, including ground-proofing, meeting with local agencies, and talking to map users. They visit many of the places on the maps and travel many of the trails, which gives the kind of expertise that can’t be matched by a computer or software program.
Folded Trail Maps
Latitude 40°'s two-sided Recreation Topo Maps are the most accurate, reliable, and detailed public access trail and road maps covering Colorado and Utah for all recreationists. Printed on waterproof, tear-resistant plastic, they can withstand a lot of wear and tear and years on the trail, snowstorms, and even a few rainstorms.
Exact features vary by the area covered, but typical features include trail/route descriptions with elevation profiles and suggested routes for a variety of recreation activities such as ATV riding, hiking, mountain biking, climbing, horseback riding, and more. They also include information on things like trailheads, campgrounds, dispersed camping areas, picnic areas, day-use sites, parking/pullouts, mountain huts, cabins, historic sites, and more, as well as points of interest, special geologic features, and scenic viewpoints and overlooks.
